Erie Illusion Advertising, Marketing, and Public Relations Internship
Location: Erie, PA
Duration: One semester or minimum of 10 weeks
for externships
Majors: Administrative Office Professional,
Sports Administration, Sports Management, Sport and Leisure studies, other
majors may be considered.
Start Date: Will be coordinated with the school
and/or student
Purpose: This internship is designed to expose college students to the demands and challenges of marketing a professional football team and also exposes the student to the many opportunities and careers within women’s athletics.
Description: The Advertising, Marketing, and Public Relations internship is an exciting opportunity for students. Because of the growth in the women's football industry, it is vital to have and keep a positive image of our team on a local and national level. PR, marketing, and advertising will be the driving forces behind the success of the team.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Present and/or coordinate special nights at games (eg. Ladies Night, College Night, etc.)
- Composition of memos and feature stories
- Working with media and other outlets to assure media coverage
- Taking photographs and video
- Creating marketing and sponsorship materials and promotional items
- Management of press clippings, scoring updates, and player highlights
- Assist with PR from the office and player standpointsDay-to-day administrative functions
- Indoor and outdoor advertising solutions
- Study the public we currently serve and offer suggestions for change and/or improvement
- Creation and/or management of calendars, surveys, and several other internal documents
- Other duties and projects as assignedAssist with website updates and changes
Required Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to demonstrate a high level of professionalism and initiative. Ability to work well independently and in a team environment. Multi-tasking skills. Detail-oriented.
Preferred Skills: Microsoft PowerPoint, Microsoft Access, Microsoft FrontPage, general knowledge of Quickbooks
