Illusion to Face the Fusion in Preseason ScrimmageMarch 12, 2007
First-year Illusion Head Coach Keith Ludwig and about a dozen rookies will get their first taste of N.W.F.A. full-contact football on Sat. March 24 when Erie travels to Cleveland to face the new-look Fusion in a preseason scrimmage. Kick-off is scheduled for Noon at Bedford High School Stadium, 481 Northfield Road, Bedford, Ohio, 44146.
Erie faced former division rival Cleveland twice a year ago, dropping shutouts at home and on the road. This season the Illusion will look to the new brown & orange Fusion to help them prepare for their league season opener against the Tree Town Spitfire on April 7 in Michigan. The scrimmage will include live action & controlled drills.
Along with his rookies, Ludwig will have the services of 14 veteran players, with nearly half of them boasting four years of experience in the NWFA. The Illusion launched their Fifth Anniversary Season in the league with an outdoor fall mini-camp last October. The team has been practicing indoors at the St. Benedict’s Community Center in Erie since early January.
